Title:Technical Support Officer – Level 2

Key Responsibilities
Level 2 will provide extended phone support cover for the Level 1 Technical support officer, respond to escalated monthly server health checks issues and be available for the out of hours on-call support roster.
An employee at this level undertakes initial professional tasks of higher scope and complexity to that of Level 1, such as higher level phases of broader assignments.
With limited supervision from supervisors as to method of approach and requirements, the employee performs normal professional work and exercises individual judgment and initiative in the application of principles, techniques and methods.
In assisting more senior professional information technology employees by carrying out tasks requiring accuracy and adherence to prescribed methods of information technology analysis, design or computation, the employee draws upon advanced techniques and methods learned during and after the undergraduate course.
Training, development and experience using a variety of standard procedures, enable the employee to develop increasing professional judgment and apply it progressively to more difficult tasks at Level 3.
Decisions are related to tasks performed, relying upon precedent or defined procedures for guidance. Recommendations are related to solution of problems in connection to the tasks performed.
Work is reviewed by supervisors for validity, adequacy, methods and procedures. With professional development and experience, work receives less review, and the employee progressively exercises more individual judgment until the level of competence at Level 3 is achieved.

Key Responsibilities and Delegations
Ad-hoc technical support and problem resolution;
System deployments and upgrades;
Interstate travel (occasional);
Preventative maintenance tasks;
Onsite troubleshooting;
Willingness to be on-call from time to time when required;
Software and hardware configuration and testing.

Qualifications / Experience

VMware Administration – 3+ year operational or administrative experience.
SQL administration skills – 3+ year experience including the use of TransactSQL.
Windows 2008 server administration.
Scripting experience (Powershell).
Linux Operating System experience.
Genetec Omnicast 4 onwards / DVTel.
Certificate IV in Information Technology.

Degree in Information Technology.
Experience documenting procedures.
Experience supporting Linux environments.
Experience supporting server hardware.

Performance Assessment:
Self-Assessment with Team Leader and Group Manager, review (to be documented).
