Key Accountabilities:
- Design, code, test and implement Sprint Boot based Java applications and REST APIs
- Perform unit, system integration and performance testing.
- Work in an agile environment, attending stand-ups, retros, planning, showcases and other agile meetings and ceremonies
- Design and develop the code and structure for CI/CD enabling infrastructure as code
- Collect logs and metrics, build dashboards and monitor using Enterprise tools
- Work closely with Engineering Managers and Solution Designers to determine platform requirements and priorities
- Improve, enhance and correct platform operation through monitoring and self-recovery automation across production and non-production environments
- Coaching and mentoring of other engineers to uplift practices and cross-skill individuals over time
- Participate in the rotating production support roster, and perform out of hours deployments and on-call support
Responsibilities:
- 5+ years of experience designing and building microservices, demonstrating understanding of microservices and web services concepts (REST, SOAP), design patterns and architecture principles
- Agile software development and management methods and ability to excel within a fast-paced environment
- Experience with tooling and infrastructure; Gradle, Maven, Tomcat, Websphere, SQL/NoSQL databases
- Proficient with automated unit/functional/performance testing (Junit, Mockito, PowerMock, JMeter)
- Exposure to working with CI/CD (Jenkins) and AWS
- Understanding of how to build performant, testable and maintainable code
Technical Skills and experience:
- Experience with Kafka, MQ, DynamoDB/NoSQL, SQL (Postgresql)
- Experience with Query Languages for APIs (GraphQL)
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and managed services (AWS, Azure)
