Our client is a is a significant and emerging player in the Australian energy sector is looking for a Quality Assurance Team Leader to join their vibrant team!!

This role is to understand business requirements for Software Development projects, provide solution design input, document and implement quality assurance plans, and assist in release management.

You will be responsible for hand on testing of applications process, assisting with training and developing procedures to improve the overall quality of the software produced.

The role requires someone who has experience in the utility industry as well as testing and business analysis experience. The role requires a technical knowledge of database systems and software development.

Major Responsibilities

  • Preparing and maintaining test plans;
  • Conducting continuous hands-on manual and automated testing and performing upgrades/releases as required;
  • Capturing and communicating system defects and test case failures;
  • Liaising with business analysts and developers in order to ensure software specifications are met satisfactorily;
  • Liaising with suppliers, other team members and team leaders;
  • Providing assistance with training plans and end user feedback;
  • Assisting end users to understand system behavior and system functionality;
  • Producing user guides and training documentation;
  • Providing direction and support to the test team;
  • Accountability for the quality of software delivery to the business units;
  • Managing and coordinating emergency and scheduled software release; and
  • Assisting with production software problem analysis and rectification.

Essential skillset

  • 5-6 years minimum as QA Team leader
  • Experience with understanding and providing input on business requirements and solution design;
  • Demonstrated hands-on testing experience, and/or prior software development experience (in case of transitioning from development to testing);
  • Knowledge of utilities industry – specifically meter data processes, MSATS and the market, billing, and settlements;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of databases, in order to construct queries and write reports;
  • Understanding of key development processes and models such as SCRUM and release best practices;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (phone and face-to-face).
