PROJECT MANAGER

Adaps has been scouted to source Program Manager for a large government organisation to work on large business transformation project in Melbourne

About the role

The purpose of this position is to provide project management services to support the delivery of Strategy 2030.

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for delivery of one or more complex projects, whether they are stand‐alone or within a program structure.

The Senior Project Manager will be required to utilise the agreed project management framework to effectively manage, execute, deliver and report on the programs and projects they are responsible for. There will be a focus on schedule, budget, risk and issues management, documentation, quality control and managing project dependencies.

Projects may be delivered using vendor suppliers, internal supplier or a mix of both, and the Senior Project Manager will be required to manage vendors to contract delivery alongside internal resources.

The Senior Project Manager is expected to:

  • Manage 1 or more projects simultaneously. These projects can have a very high degree of project complexity.
  • Have 10+ years of program/project management experience.
  • Have managed other project managers, either directly or via a matrix structure.
  • Provide exemplary stakeholder management, be able to communicate at all levels and provide informative, analytical reporting to a range of audiences.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the project delivery framework.

Project Management:

  • Lead and motivate the project management team, ensuring behavioural expectations of team members are established
  • Project governance and control, including operation of the steering committee and ongoing management of the business case

  • Adherence to WorkSafe policy and methodologies including EPMO delivery frameworks
  • Prepare and maintain baseline management products, in conjunction with any Project
  • Identify and engage with stakeholders, including facilitation of relevant project reference groups
  • Define the project objectives, delivery strategies, work streams and products
  • Define the responsibilities, tasks and deliverables for each business work stream within the project, and allocate resources to tasks
  • Support and develop resources as necessary to perform their responsibilities
  • Establish and manage project baselines including scope, budget, schedule, resources and quality
  • Implement and operate project controls to identify exceptions
  • Manage and resolve (and escalate as required) exceptions including project risks, issues and changes as they arise
  • Sourcing, procurement and management of suppliers (internal or external) and liaison with any third parties required to support delivery
  • Integration of the work streams within the project, and of the project with other projects, identifying and managing interdependencies
  • Overall progress monitoring and reporting, and timely escalation of exceptions
  • Managing project closure including scope reconciliation, project performance assessment and capture of lessons learned

In order to succeed in this role, you will have the following…

Skills and experience

  • Substantial career evidence of program and project management including proven management of multiple projects concurrently within large and complex organisations.
  • Delivering projects in a matrix environment.
  • Proven experience in delivering projects with budgets greater than $10m.
  • Extensive project lifecycle experience understanding the planning and delivery of projects in its entirety.
  • High level of stakeholder and communication skills with excellent attention to detail in written work.
  • Proven confidence in verbal communication with the successful ability to deal with people at all levels of an organisation including liaising with a wide range of diverse stakeholders.

Desirable

A knowledge and or experience in the delivery and realisation of best practice delivery of services to injured workers, workers, licensors and employers, would be of benefit, but not essential. Demonstrating a client centric approach to all aspects of work, including a willingness to share knowledge and expertise to assist in embedding this approach across the organisation.
