Your Day-to-Day
Platform delivery
- Support one or more agile teams to deliver their Platform product backlog items across the end-to-end Platform, in a DevOps environment spanning architectural layers, including middleware and database. Your specific role within your Platform team can vary to complement skills and capabilities of fellow team members, as we collaborate and self-organise, to deliver change and support. Delivery work may include:
- Scripting, at the application level; the infrastructure provisioning for a specific platform based on the templates produced by the Infrastructure teams
- Developing scripts to support continuous integration and deployment
- Automating test cases
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to optimise the delivery of Platform product backlog items from both a quality and speed-to-market perspective to maximise business value delivered. This includes taking advantage of continuous integration and configuration management to promote a continuous deployment pipeline with high levels of automation for seamless transition of operational and development projects into the live environment
- Take into consideration the lightweight control and governance mechanisms as well as regulatory and legal landscape requirements
- Identify and raise opportunities for continuous improvement of the health and performance of the Platforms you support, from both a delivery and operations perspective. This may include automated testing, automated scripts for deployment and developing code which is easily tested
- You leverage the team processes and tools to ensure flexible, rapid, high-quality, well documented development
- Work in a safe manner and in ways aligned with Corporate policies and expected behaviours
- Team development and growth
- Contribute to the growth of the Cloud Engineering team\’s knowledge and skills. You can do this by assisting with identification, coordination, design and delivery of knowledge sharing and training programs, as well as attending them
- Grow the Platform teams\’ understanding and capability in leveraging DevOps tools to enable a continuously integrated environment with high levels of automation
- Continuously develop your knowledge as you learn from your interactions, your mistakes, and any external resources

Your Experience
You have…
- Extensive experience in AWS cloud engineering with high levels of automation through Infrastructure-as-Code principles
- Extensive expertise in continuously integrated software engineering pipelines following DevOps practices
- Solid understanding of AWS best practices, including cloud security practices
- Ability to design and build highly resilient distributed applications using AWS IaaS services
- Solid experience in zero downtime deployment principles
- Experience in immutable infrastructure principles
- Experience in automated infrastructure provisioning using CloudFormation
- Experience in deployments automation using tools like Ansible
- Experience in configuration management using tools like Puppet
- Linux administration experience, covering systems engineering best practices
- Solid understanding of networking theory and core internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks)
- Good working knowledge of, and experience in using continuous integration tools like Bamboo/Jenkins
- Exposure to containerisation with Kubernetes or OpenShift
- Preferably, prior experience in software development
- Collaborated with diverse stakeholders and team members to deliver complex technical application programs in agile environments
- Preferably, worked in a regulated financial services environment
- Exposure to the life insurance industry and associated technologies
